Put Find feature back the way it was
Letter after suggestion after letter I have tried to pound into the heads of the programmers that they need to think through the consequences of any changes they make. Case in point: previously Find defaulted to the last parameter we used -- if we last used Find by ID, then clicking Find would pop up Find by ID. Now it doesn't. In what appears to be meant purely as a cosmetic change to the page, the default is now always Find by Name, and we have to click and wait to be able to find by ID. Why the change? Because the programmers weren't thinking about consequences -- surely they cannot think it better the way it is now.
I want to find by ID. I doubt that I have tried to find by Name more than twice in teh last five years.
So my suggestions in a nutshell: a) Please reinstitute the "default to last used parameter" function; b) please think through the consequences whenever you make a change.

True, there have been many changes that have made researching more difficult for FamilySearch users, but this is not really a serious problem.
As has been highlighted several times recently, you don't even have to use "Find by ID", as there are two alternative, straightforward ways of getting directly to the ID required. Either input it in the box labelled "Enter Name or ID" under "Recents" or, whilst on any person page, delete the ID in the URL bar and replace it with the one you wish to get to.
Most of us could manage just fine if "Find By Name" was the only choice and, unlike you, I think you will find many users use that option far more than "Find By ID". As most users don't "follow" all the individuals they are working on, surely "Find By Name" is the main way to find a person whose record you suddenly have the need to update?
I would have agreed with you on several other examples you might have referenced, but certainly not this one, I'm afraid.

@ChuckKing, as Paul implied, "Find by ID" is pointless: if you already have the ID, then why on Earth do you want to look for it? Just use it, for heaven's sake.

I do hope my post is read by administrator/programmers who are not dismissive of the ways I use the feature (the first respondent above) or ignorant (the second respondent -- for heavens sake, I DO use it, that is the premise of my post).
Granted the Recents workaround is useful, but I was pointing out the carelessness of programmers who unnecessarily put obstacles in the way of a feature they created, which makes me hunt around for some other workaround.

I use the Find feature quite a bit and while there are other ways to find people as suggested, I prefer to use the Find feature for my personal reasons and I would appreciate the program remembering I used it and the search screen defaulting to my last search option of Find by ID over by name. I miss what the program used to do as far as this feature.

Thank you CIndy -- we're on the same page. I too use it all the time. I just used it to go through a stack of 20 slips, making sure that their parents were sealed so I could properly do the SP, or that their spouse had been endowed so I could proceed to SS. Now if we can get a coupe hundred more people to chime in, maybe it will be put back the way it was :)
