Cannot merge because Family Tree thinks he is is own spouse!

I cannot merge my deceased Father-in-law with a duplicate record because family search believes he is married to himself. My wife accidentally made the Larry Waite on left the spouse of the [real] Larry Waite on the right as she thought she was merging the two records. I was able to undo that, but now it won't let me merge these records.

    @Brady Nixon

    Thank you for posting in the Community. We understand you have been working with another missionary. When I went back to the merge screen, it shows that the two can be merged if KWHW-LC7 is on the right, and will become the surviving person.

    Good luck.

    I am having this same problem. No matter which person is the "surviving" person I get the same message.

    The person on the right was, erroneously, put in as a male. I changed that but I still can't merge them. There are not records attached to the person on the right and only had one person, before me, making additions or changes. I attached the correct husband to the person on the right but I still can't merge them.

    What can I do now to make these the same person?

    @Terry Echols, I can make out Ruby Lynn's PID as LTYV-S8F but can't read the other Ruby's PID? You will likely have to remove the incorrect relationship first.

    As another user, I took a look at this. The IDs which are quite hard to read in the image are LTYV-S8F and LTYJ-T1R. The second ID had had the name changed to Ruby hudson and the birth date removed and the relationship to her husband removed and it still cannot be merged and gets that a person cannot be merged with his or her own spouse.

    When something acts this strange, you have to think that there are some living profiles involved that you, @Terry Echols , can't see. Either that or the underlying data in one of these profiles is corrupted somehow.

    Terry, you will have to get someone with administrative permissions who can see all living people to take a look at this for you. It might be quickest to click on the Contact Us link under Quick Links at the top right of this page, choose your area of the world, and schedule an online help session.
