Just signed up--why did my user name change?
I just created a FamilySearch account yesterday, and then posted a question, which has already been answered. Thanks so much!
But I noticed that the user name associated with my new account isn't what I chose but was changed to Sherry 471. I'm just wondering why. I'm 79 years old, and JustOldSherry suits me fine and is a bit less bland.

Thank you CJTobler.
When I click on my name/picture up on the right, next to the email icon, I get these choices: Edit Profile, Bookmarks, Drafts, My Discussions, and Sign Out. I'm sure it's probably right under my nose, but I don't see "Settings" or a pencil icon. If I open Edit Profile, I do see where it looks like I should be able to change the name and/or email address. However it's not active--in that it won't let me type in those fields. Nothing happens. I was able to change the profile picture.
I wonder if it's my browser. I use Firefox; is that a problem?

Hi Sherry,
You clicked on your name/picture while in the Community. (We're sorry we didn't do a better job of instructing you)
While in the Community, Click on the FamilySearch logo on the top, left side of your screen.
From there, Click on your name in the upper right-hand corner, and you will see Settings. Follow the steps we outlined in our private message, and you should be able to change your Contact ID.
Best wishes.
