suggestions for improving "discovery" notifications
I really appreciate FamilySearch. What a great resource. I constantly recommend it to people and refer to it constantly myself. It has truly been an asset as I continue to explore my family history.
I also appreciate the updates and notices that come into my inbox. However, some of them are a little less than optimal. For example, when I see a subject line like "we found a military record for your great-grandfather," I get excited. Y'all found a new record for Great Grandpa? Hot diggity, let me see it!
It's disappointing to then click through and then discover it's only a record I already know about, because in fact I'm the one who attached that record to the ancestor in question. (Especially as it actually takes five clicks to confirm that, indeed, this is that same record.) Ideally, I'd prefer to get alerts only when truly new records have been discovered, and I particularly don't want to get alerts about records I found myself. Failing that, I'm wondering if the messaging could be massaged slightly. For example, instead of "we found a record" maybe the subject line could say "here's a record."
Just a tiny little suggestion. Please keep up the great work.
Sincerely,
Bart Everson
PS: I hope you have a happy and meaningful Memorial Day!
