Saving obituary links

Obituaries are copyright text. Many funeral homes put obituaries on their respective websites. When citing a newspaper obituary, it is tricky because the other user needs to access that newspaper, but the funeral home makes its obituaries available for free.

Therefore, when a funeral home obituary is available, (or an obituary in a free online newspaper) that link should be included in the source when building on Family Tree. But it gets better.

Many newspapers and funeral homes clear large amounts of old stuff from their websites. You can go to https://web.archive.org/save and have the Wayback Machine crawl the page with the obituary in it. Then you get a link that will probably outlast the newspaper or funeral home web page.
