How do you get exact searches to work? I don't understand how to get exact results anymore.
How do I get an EXACT search to appear?
I tick the boxes but it's simply not providing correct responses. I have a very specific birth date of 1875 and a very specific last name, very specific country, but Family Search still insists on giving me over 1,700 pages of information completely unrelated and no way to sort it all. It feels like this is a Facebook way of providing information, forcing the user to scroll, scroll, scroll... "are you feeling lucky?" That's what the search engine feels like.
Is there a way to get very granulated and detailed search results like with Ancestry or the other services? I can't use FamilySearch with this lack of search functionality.

It does seem that like most search engines these days, they try to be overly helpful and try really hard to give some type of result. Typically, however, when the results don't seem to make sense, that is because there really are no results. Generally there is no need to scroll through all those pages because you are not going to find anything.
But it is hard to say much without a specific example. Please post an example of a search you are trying to do. The easiest way to do this is to put in the search then paste here the URL of the first page of results.
