How do I remove a set of parents that are attached to the wrong child - trash can is not an option (says it's not available)

#G7JM-B5W and #G7J9-FNT are NOT the parents of G3Y4-GB9

@JoneMarie, edit/delete the relationship, not the people.

As I see it, there are broadly two types of errors that get entered into the communal Family Tree: misreadings and misidentifications. A misreading is turning a daughter "May" into a son "Max", for example; a misidentification is attaching the wrong John Doe - Mary Roe couple as parents for John Doe Jr. Most misreadings can be fixed with some editing and then a merge (or three), while most misidentifications can be fixed by removing and/or replacing the relevant relationships. (The corrections will "stick" better if you figure out where the incorrect people actually belong and attach them there; if a profile is left floating, some helpful soul is bound to come along and repeat the error, especially if it's one that has propagated on other genealogy sites.) The thing to notice is that neither type of correction involves any profile deletion.

How do I remove a father when the child is illigetiment? The mother named someone that was thousands of miles away that she claimed to be dead when in fact he was married to someone else. The resulting children went through life unknowingly copying the lie thinking it was their correct last name. One went to court and changed his name legaly to his stepfather's name.

HazelHarvey I would not remove the wrong father, I would change the relationship to some non-biological choice, step, maybe. I would also add this new information in the life sketch to paint a more complete picture of their lives.
