Still looking for the parents of John Albert Collymore

John Albert Collymore was born in Saint Thomas Barbados between 1870 - 1875 according to his marriage cert. I have looked through thousands of records and yet I cannot find any trace of his birth. I even visited the Barbados Archive to trace the records, but no joy there. I have found the record of his death, but not his birth. Is the anywhere else I should look for his birth cert. Any help would be appreciated. Rose

From these varying records, you may find ways to ascertain the ancestral birth information from a number of sources.

@RoseTudor Your ancestor is John Albert Collymore, born 1870-1875 at St. Thomas, Barbados. I assume this information comes from other records later in his life and/or family information. And that several records indicate he was from St. Thomas...is this correct? Is he the John Albert Collymore who immigrated to Canada 29 May 1918?

Here are my thoughts. The research wiki can be accessed from the home page by clicking, Search, then Research Wiki. We could do a search for Barbados, or for Saint Thomas Parish, Barbados as shown here:

Not too much information on records, so it would be better to back up to Barbados, by clicking the blue word "Barbados" at the top which takes us here: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Barbados_Genealogy

Note on the right side of the page the Record Types table. The main records you want to check will be Civil Registration and Church Records...but it is always possible that some of the others might be helpful. It is good to check out all these links and information.

I also like to check the catalog, which shows specifically what familysearch holds in their collections.

You can access the catalog by clicking Search, then Catalog, on the homepage. Usually I do a place search, but in this case, I think a key word search is better. In the keyword search field, try: Barbados St. Thomas. Click on "Barbados parochial registers, Series A, 1637-1850." You can see in the film notes there are some records for St. Thomas' parish...but they do not go late enough for your ancestor.

I did some searching for Collymore Baptisms in the FamilySearch film archives for Barbados and found many records for this surname but not for John Albert. I may have missed him. However, if @RoseTudor wants to take up the search I can happily report that the written records are very easy to read.
