Searching Ancestors in South Western Ukraine

Hi I have family from Monastrychany near Solotovyn near Bohrodachany. I have traced my Grandfather Mykyta Lucak and Grandmother Parasaka. But i am struggling to go back any further. There is a variation to our surname Lucak, Lutsak and Luzak. I have also been unable to link my ancestors to anybody with this name in North America and Canada.

Hope somebody can point me in the right direction.

I searched the catalog in FamilySearch and could find no records from the area around Bohrodachany. I also looked in the Ancestry card catalog and could find no records. There is an article in the Research Wiki about Ukraine Genealogy and how to begin Ukrainian research.

In addition, there is a link to the right of this page on Free Research Consultation from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Perhaps there is someone there who can provide help.

FamilySearch has browsable images of about 18 years of the Greek Catholic church register from Monastyrchany: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/1257390. Notice that it's item 3 on the film; it starts on image 593.

@JohnTaras Hello John, just checking to see if we have the correct location. Here is where I find the two cities on google maps in Ivan-Frankivsk Oblast. Are you able to find Monastrychany on Google maps?

The other screen shot is the FamilySearch catalog list of locations within this oblast that FamilySearch has any records for. You can access this list (and blue links) by clicking Search, then Catalog. Unter Ukraine in the place field and click Search. Then click places within Ukraine, then Ivano-Frankivs'k. Not that at this level of the catalog there are 4 Church record collections and 3 Jewish record collections. You may want to check these out. Next click, places within Ukraine, Ivano-Frankivs'k to get to the image below. Click on blue town name for a list of records from that location.
