You can access the research wiki page for San Diego, California by: --click Search, -click Research Wiki, add California to search box, scroll down to below map and click San Diego. Look through the greyed "Contents" box for 6.3 Vital Records then 6.3.3 Divorce. Click this link.
The wiki gives a link to the 1966-1984 California Divorce Index on FamilySearch here: https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/2015584. The same index is available on ancestry.
If you have already found the family in the index, and are wanting to obtain the actual court records....you will likely need to do some google searching to locate the appropriate court and obtain the document from them if available to the public. This is sometimes quite a task.
The same research wiki article says that the Superior Court has probate, civil and divorce records. Main County Courthouse, 220 W Broadway, San Diego, CA 92101
However, a google search talks about Family Courts of Superior Court
"In San Diego County, California, divorce, legal separation, and annulment cases are handled by the Family Courts of Superior Court. These courts also hear related matters like child custody and support, alimony, property distribution, etc. Prepare and file the initial divorce papers."
There are some older genealogy books that outline what happens in various courts...any recommendations from others?
