Indexing while searching

I often have to search through hundreds of pages of unindexed records (often from from Eastern Europe. It seems a shame to waste all that time reading names that aren't what I'm looking for. It would be wonderful if I could at least index the last names, which I'm reading anway, to help other people. It could a different sort of ad-hoc index instead of the full, verified ones that are officially being done already. Then, each time someone searches and reads these records, they can verify the ad-hoc ones and add to them. Imagine how quickly all the records could be indexed, if every time someone was researching, they were adding to the overall index options.
