Greater Care Needed in Recording Indexes Throughout the Indexing Process
Case in Point:
The index of the marriage of Marcelius delos Reyes (LKPF-RWQ) and Tomasa Roat (LKPF-T39) was incorrectly indexed. Careful examination of the digital image for the Marriage Register identifies that the incorrect name ('Limbania Rafael') indexed for the mother of Marcelius delos Reyes, and the incorrect name ('Filomena Mateo') indexed for the mother of Tomasa Roat are actually the names of the mothers of Rufino Felipe and Agrifina Aguilar (or Aguilan), who were married on the 25 Feb 1926, and who are listed three records above on the register.
Greater care needs to be conducted by the indexers, and also by the individuals who verify the indexes that are generated. In attempting to expeditiously generate the absolutely Essential indexes, the participants may not be doing as effective an effort as NEEDS to be performed. A momentary pause before submitting the batch being indexed, to quickly check the information entered for accuracy/completeness is requisite for providing the best information. The Worldwide Databases on FamilySearch DO NOT need erroneous information to be recorded, and which subsequently may be propagated by the researchers and descendants of the individuals on the Primary Source Records.
