I recently was on the National Archives Website and was delighted to find a Family Tree for a family with two parents. And brilliantly a family tree for a four parent family.

The tree included a space for a mother and step-father and a father and step-mother.

It felt very inclusive. May I recommend a similiar option for FamilySearch.

It has family tree charts and activities for children.

It is located at https://www.archives.gov/education/family-history

    @Sarah Sandberg Pletsch

    There is nothing to stop a child being linked to more than one set of parents in Family Tree. Normally this is done in error but it can be done deliberately. The nature of the relationship can be indicated. See the following Knowledge Article

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-specify-biological-step-adopted-and-foster-relationships-in-family-tree

    Sarah

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

    Maybe, you are relatively new to, the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch' ...

    Old news ...

    NOTHING new ...

    That is ALREADY well covered ...

    Please be, aware; and, advised ...

    [ 1 ]

    That individuals/persons, can ALREADY have, MULTIPE, "Sets" of Parents ...

    The "Limits" in, the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch', are/include:

    ==========

    In Family Tree, the record for a person has the following data limits:

    • Spouses: x200
    • ------------------
    • Parents: x100
    • ------------------
    • Children: x400
    • Names, facts, and events in the Other Information section: x200
    • Sources: x200
    • Memories: x1,000
    • Other persons identified as "not a match": x400
    • Discussions: x50
    • Individual notes: x50 (each note can have up to 10,752 characters)
    • Relationship notes: x12 (each note can have up to 10,752 characters)

    ==========

    Here is a "Knowledge Article" in 'FamilySearch':

    What are the data limits for people in Family Tree?

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/what-are-the-data-limits-on-about-people-in-family-tree

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/what-are-the-data-limits-on-about-people-in-family-tree

    And ...

    As, has already been proffered, by 'Graham' ...

    [ 2 ]

    There are, a number, of "Types", of Parent-Child" Relationships, that an individual/person can have, with those MULTIPE "Sets" of Parents.

    Those "Types", of Parent-Child" Relationships, are

    • Biological;
    • Adopted;
    • Step;
    • Foster; and,
    • Guardianship

    Again, here is the aforementioned "Knowledge Article":

    How do I specify biological, step, adopted, and foster relationships in Family Tree?

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-specify-biological-step-adopted-and-foster-relationships-in-family-tree

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-specify-biological-step-adopted-and-foster-relationships-in-family-tree

    So ...

    That Said ...

    "Blended" Families, ALREADY exist, in the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch' ...

    And, HAVE done, for, MANY, Many, many, YEARS ....

    I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat; &, may provide you with, some additional, insight; &, perspective.

    Looking at your link, I see that you are referring to National Archives' templates for pedigree charts which includes this one:

    I think this is the first such chart I have ever seen that shows both sets of parents for the root individual at the same time. FamilySearch's options for such charts are pretty limited, (https://www.familysearch.org/campaign/keepsakes# and https://www.familysearch.org/africa/instant-tree/browse-designs). Including an option to shift names to allow this configuration to print could be a useful improvement.

    After thinking about this a bit more, however, I suspect such trees are not commonly part of computer generated trees due to programming complexities. If you start including more than one set of parents, where do you stop? As soon as you develop a poster that can show father/step-mother and mother/stepfather some one is going to want a tree that shows father/step-mother, mother/3rd husband, and mother's 2nd husband/his second wife since the last set ended up adopting the individual. It's probably best to stick with a grove of posters, each with just one set of starting parents.
