Deciphering names in census records- 1950 and others
If a name is not clear, one can look at recognizable names and words on the same page and compare the letter(s) in question to those in the recognizable name/letters.
The script becomes much easier to read as you see how the census taker wrote individual letters. And so many researchers will be grateful to find names of their ancestors indexed carefully and correctly.
