many 1940 US Census records missing citations?

In the past week or so I'm finding a lot of 1940 US census records have nothing under "Cite this Record", and clicking the "Copy Citation" button doesn't do anything. This is true both on the main search page and when I go to an individual person's record. Is this a known issue that the techs are working on?

A problem with the 1940 Census has been reported because many of the names connected to the records are suddenly appearing as "Unknown". This may have affected the citation as well.

When you want to be sure a problem has been reported, please always try to provide the URL as an example. It is important that we have details so that problems that may be system errors can be replicated by those who need to make corrections. I tried to find some of these 1940 Census records and while I was able to verify the "unknown" issue that has been reported, I could not find any records where the citation was available if the name on the record was listed as "unknown" so I will report the issue.

As you can see, the dropdown is still there to reveal document information, but there is no citation and clicking "copy citation" sends nothing to the clipboard to paste anywhere. Thanks for mentioning this issue.
