STAY SIGNED IN FOR 2 WEEKS BOX DOES NOT WORK

This issue has been going on for some while. I have given up ticking the box now. As you say, it is erratic. The engineers are aware of it but cannot give a time scale for resolution.

(Please don't shout: turn off the caps lock.)
That checkbox has never done what people expect it to based on the label, but it does work for what it actually does: it saves your credentials and signs you back in, silently, when you visit a page that needs it. For example, you can browse the catalog without signing in, but you can't view images. If you click a camera icon to view a film, and you're not signed in but had the box checked the last time you did (and it wasn't too long ago), then FS will sign you in and show you the images without taking you to the sign-in page.

There is an issue with the 2 week sign in if your browser auto clears cookies. The cookie is what is used to resign you in as Julia describes. It works for me but I do not clear cookies. Some have the browser set to clear cookies and if that setting is used it will not auto sign you in.

thanks. i have to manually clear cookies, so that is not the issue. same issue on either browser or app. i can be signed in one day, and have to resign in the next.

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Just in passing ...
I DO NOT know, what all the 'fuss', is about ...
And, I use 'FamilySearch' EVERY Day ...
As far as I am concerned, the "Option", to "Keep me signed in for 2 weeks", works just fine.
ALL, that the "Option", to "Keep me signed in for 2 weeks" does, is to enable one, to "Sign In", WITHOUT, having to completely "Sign In", with one's FULL "Credentials" (ie. Username; and, Password).
Nothing more, nothing less ...
IF, one has the "Keep me signed in for 2 weeks" enabled; and, you have either, "Closed" the Programme (but, NOT "Signed Out"); or, there was some form, of 'Outage'; THEN, one simply selects the "Sign In"; and, one is AUTOMATICALLY signed back in.
There are are 'Times'; when, such DOES NOT work; and, one is REQUIRED, to "Sign In", WITH one's FULL "Credentials"; but, in my experience, that is negligible.
[ ie. Such, sometimes happens, after the "Weekly" Release/Update in 'FamilySearch'; but, often, no even then ]
And, I use the "Browsers" of, principally, 'Google' "Chrome"; but, also, 'Mozilla' "FireFox" (often); and, 'Microsoft' "Edge" (sometimes), all with the "Operating System" of "Windows 10", all using the LATEST versions of each.
IF, you are having problems/issues, with the feature/facility/function; THEN, perhaps, such MAY have something to do with, the "Browser(s)"; and/or, the "Operating System"; plus, the age of the "Versions" of each, that you are using.
Again ...
I DO NOT know, what all the 'fuss', is about ...

As far as I am concerned, the "Option", to "Keep me signed in for 2 weeks", works just fine.
Hey; but, that is just me ...
