I guess I didn't respond correctly, sorry. I am researching my "WAY" family that lived in Nantucket 1600-1770 or so, some were whalers and a couple lost at sea, how do I find info about the people, the ship they were on, and so on?

So, there are a couple of loose threads to tug here. One is the surname and place. The other is the whaling industry.

For whaling see books detailing histories of other whaling families, the New England whaling industry, etc. and consult the historical records they cite.

For the surname and place you could try FamilySearch historical records search but because anyone in North America before 1776 is of interest to many people, I would start by searching FamilySearch Family Tree using the Find tool.

Hello @marygrether. Do you have a FamilySearch user experience enhancement to suggest? Or do you have a question?
