Indexing totals based on individual records and not on batches

There are people who are indexing that may take a little longer to get a batch done in spite of their best efforts. They may have a vision issue or they broke their arm or other such issues, and if the batch is returned before they get it done, the totals are not populated - unless they are able to complete a batch. I am sure that those who have issues with the batches might do better with smaller batches - but those are few and far between. The indexing statistics are not populating very easily anyways. There must be a better solution so that people will feel better about being able to index and see their progress at the same time.
