How do I not lose my work if I have to step away?

I spent about 45 minutes reviewing families grouped by household. Each time I completed a household, I was asked if I wanted to stop or do more families. I kept choosing more, planning to finish the entire page. I only had a few families left when I had to step away. I came back a little over three hours later to see a quick message flash on the screen saying my time had expired before the page reloaded. I checked my stats and it shows I did no reviewing today. Was all my work lost? Was there some way I could have saved it somehow before stepping away? How can I prevent wasted work while doing family reviews if I have to step away?

I just tried again on another project, and remembered that I was given the opportunity to "Save" each time I completed a household. I did just one and then clicked "Go Back." Then I checked my reviewing stats and still nothing there. So now I think my earlier work was saved after all, but just isn't recorded with my other reviewing work.

@Barry Hansen Thank you so much for your dedication. I know that can be a bit frustrating. Just so that you know, the program times out after 1 hour. Everything you have done is saved. Also, if the numbers aren't matching what you have done, just give it a little time to catch up. I have found that on Sundays there tend to be more people Reviewing/Indexing, and so things take a little more time to catch up. Good luck with everything, and thank you again for all that you are doing.

Good to know about the time out limit. Thanks, Heather. It seemed strange because every time I've reviewed in the past, for several years now and mainly on Sundays, the my Progress chart showed my work immediately upon completion. It's been three days now and my Progress chart still shows zero for April. I wonder if there's some software problem keeping 1950 Census work from being recorded in the normal way.

    You are most welcome.

Right now your progress on the Census will be shown on the 1950 US Census Review Page. https://www.familysearch.org/getinvolved/1950

You can look at all of your indexing on the FamilySearch > Get Involved > My Opportunities page. It will have your Web Indexing and Review numbers, as well as your 1950 US Census numbers separated out. If you worked on Get Involved review the month before the census came out, then those numbers will be combined with the census numbers on this page. https://www.familysearch.org/getinvolved/my-opportunities

    I hope that this helps.
