Maren Mogensdatter : This person's record is read-only. No additions or changes can be made.
Why is this person's record is read-only. No additions or changes can be made.
She is my great great grandmother and I have family photos of her that I would like to add to her record. Since I am a direct descendant of hers and these photos came from her son (Ova Larson Peterson) and grandson' (Dorus Earnest Peterson)'s records why are they prohibited?
Thank you.

She is Read Only because she is the fifth wife of Levi Ward Hancock, who is Read Only.

She deserves to be recognized by more than a tombstone marker. She was a special person in her own right and as my paternal great-great-great grandmother deserves to have a face and story. Her descendants deserve to know her better.
thank you.

Have you read this article: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/what-are-read-only-records-in-family-tree ? This states that you can make specific requests. I don't know whether that includes adding Memories to the page.

I would like the two photos I have of her added to her memories page. This is something I believe should be shared and visible to her descendants. In my opinion, It is much easier to connect with an ancestor you can visualize. I am making a specific request for this to be done. Thank you.

Without wishing to sound rude, I find that article tells us nothing about the reasons / nature of "read-only" IDs.
Naturally, after spending so many years on FamilySearch forums, I am aware that most of these locked records relate to senior members of the LDS Church and their relatives / spouses. But it seems quite perverse, then, that the ID for Jesus of Nazareth is not locked, allowing for a controversial line of descendants to have been added, through a suggested relationship with Mary Magdalene.
The other odd point in the article you reference is the statement, "Because we encourage collaboration, we do not accept guest requests to mark a record as read-only." So, why should there be such a selective (and sometimes seemingly arbitrary) number of read-only records when - even when our branches are being effectively vandalised by careless users - we still cannot even request IDs that contain details highly precious to us should be locked to further damaging work?
(Update to above comments):
On the other hand, if the above statement (from the Help article) is true, why can't some users be able to add details / memories to the IDs of their own ancestors (as in the case in question)?

True. The article is very vague but does point out that if Judy gets the attention of the right people she might be able to get her photographs posted.
As far as your other comments, Paul, if you make me think about them one more time, I'm going to get a headache on this beautiful holiday weekend. So all I'll say is, I agree completely with your points!

Who are the “right” people?

The people to whom a moderator here should pass on your request that should then contact you through a private message here. All you can do now is wait to hear from someone.

Your case will be forwarded to a specialty team for review. You may be contacted by that team if they need more information. Please watch for the red dot (top right) next to the bell. The dot indicates a message.
They take the cases in the order they are received, and they may be busy.
