I recently uploaded a GEDCOM to the Genealogies section of FamilySearch, which is in the Search drop down menu. My GEDCOM has 9172 individuals listed.

Can someone tell me why then, when I start to do a search of that uploaded file, without logging in, does it say that there are 9708 results?

I'm very curious to know why the two totals do not match.

    @SAPeterson

    FYI

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

    Just in case ...

    You were not aware ...

    Please be, aware; and, advised, that ...

    Those GEDCOM Files, "Uploaded", to the "Genealogies" Part, of 'FamilySearch', DO NOT include, ANY "Living" individuals/persons, that were contained in the GEDCOM File.

    ANY "Living" individuals/persons, that are contained in a GEDCOM File, are NOT "Uploaded".

    That is, because; and, a matter, of "Privacy", for "Living" individuals/persons.

    I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.

    Question: Does the aforementioned account for the discrepancy?

    Please advise/clarify.

    'Thank You' in advance.

    Thanks for your reply, Brett.

    I’ll try to explain my issue again: For some reason I’m seeing a larger number of people in the uploaded file when I do a search, than there was in the original GEDCOM file.

    I know that the living people aren’t viewable in the uploaded file.

    @SAPeterson

    FYI

    Oops ...

    Sorry, i must have had a 'dyslexic' moment ...

    [ Or, just OLD age ... ]

    [ Basically, 'mouth' in motion, before, 'brain' in gear ... ]

    I 'see'. MORE, than was in your GEDCOM File ...

    [ NOT less ... ]

    Now ...

    That Said ...

    So that we may be able to help/assist ...

    Question: WHAT, are you "Search", for? ( eg. Just a "Name"; or, a "Submission ID"; or, something else)

    Can you add, the URL, of the "Search", in this post of yours.

    'Thank You', in advance.

    Brett
