How do I use pictures and info from someone else’s tree to my tree?

We hope we understand your question. In memories if you see a photo of your ancestor that you did not contribute, you can still link that photo to your ancestor by tagging it. Here are some instructions for tagging a photo. It would work the same for a document.

1. Click the photo or document that you want to tag.
2. On the image, click where the tag should be.
3. (Optional) To make the tag larger or smaller, click the green circle, and drag it to the correct size.
4. (Optional) To reposition the tag, click in the tag, and drag it to the desired position.
5. In the text box, enter the name of the person. As you type, names of your ancestors and relatives in Family Tree appear.
   • If the correct name appears, click it. The memory is now attached to that name in Family Tree.
   • If the correct name does not appear, finish typing the name, and click Add New. This memory is not yet attached to Family Tree. If the person is in Family Tree, click Attach to Family Tree, and find the person using his or her name or ID number.
6. Repeat for everyone in the photo or document.

There are many Knowledge Articles in the Help Center regarding how to use memories. Simply click the circle with the question mark (in the upper right-hand corner of your webpage when you are signed into Family Tree.) Choose the Memories icon, and type a couple of words related to your question in the search field.
