If you right-click on the document/photo in the memory, you can make a copy and store it in your computer for use elsewhere
I have attached some Knowledge Articles to help you with your source problem. Click on the URLs or copy and paste them into your browser
Hope this helps.

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Just in passing ...
Maybe, I a missing something ...
Provided, that you are referring to a "Memory", associated with an individual/person; and, NOT a "Source" ...
[ And, even, if you DID NOT "Add" the "Memory" to 'FamilySearch', in the first place ... ]
Just thinking out aloud here ...
IF, you have the INCORRECT individual/person, to which the "Memory" is associated; and, can get to that "Memory"; THEN, firstly, why not, just "Tag" the CORRECT individual/person in the "Memory".
That way, the "Memory", IS associated, to the CORRECT individual/person, in their "Memories" 'Tab'.
And, then, secondly, simply "Delete", the ( INCORRECT ) "Tag", for the INCORRECT individual/person.
Doing that, would be much simpler, than anything else ...
Just my thoughts.
I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.

If you want to make a formal source out of an image, you can do that. It is fantastic. I have done that for the vital record certificates of my parents. I put the image in Memories, then I create the source using the "Add New Memory Source" option.
I put the image in Memories on the focal person's page. From there, I put the image in my Source Box, and from my Source Box I attach it as a source on the profile of every person mentioned.
Learn from my mistakes: when choosing the title, consider how it will appear in the source lists on those other profiles.
Users have the ability to bookmark a memory, uploaded by any user.
Bookmarked memories can be viewed in your Memories Gallery in a web browser. Bookmarked memories can be easily accessed; this can be especially helpful when many untagged persons are in a memory & I’m working to identify them.
Bookmark feature isn’t available in the mobile device apps.
An 2nd option available in both web & Memories App is the use of albums. Like bookmarks, users may create an album & add memories uploaded by other users.
Miss Jessie I never remember to do that...
