The 'Restore' function is glitchy.  I keep getting a message saying 'This Restore request has failed. Please try again." Of course, the same thing happens when I do. Help!

    Ruth

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

    Just in case ...

Here is a "Knowledge Article", in 'FamilySearch':

How do I restore a deleted record for a person in Family Tree?

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-restore-a-deleted-record-for-a-person-in-family-tree

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-restore-a-deleted-record-for-a-person-in-family-tree

Where, it states, among other things:

    Quote

    ------------------

    Solutions to common problems

If you are unable to restore a record, be sure to check for unresolved data problems. This could be for either the person who was merged or for one of the relationships affected by the merge, such as dates that are not standardized.

    ------------------

I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.

This is the message I keep getting whenever I try to restore faulty changes made by someone else.

So if there are significant major errors made to previously correct connections, is the best way to go back from the top and simply restore everything that you can in chronological order?

It's really tricky. It's right mess that I'm dealing with. Names changed, new records created needlessly and old ones removed.

    Ruth

    'Yes' ...

Sometimes, actually, quite often, one CANNOT "Restore", a previous "Record"/"Detail", that was "Changed".

    Brett

ps: In such cases, I have had to "Add" them, again (ie. as a NEW "Record"/"Detail" ...

Thanks, Brett. There was a merge that needed undoing first. All good now! Appreciate your time. :D

    Ruth

    Sometimes ...

"Unmerge" works; and, sometimes, it does not ...

    Likewise ...

"Restore" works; and, sometimes, it does not ...

    Whereas ...

Sometimes, it is playing around, with a combination of both.

    And ...

As, stated in another "Knowledge Article":

You can unmerge the people if no one made changes after the merge.

If someone made changes after the merge, you can restore the deleted person instead.

    [ If, you are lucky ... ]
