Are there alternatives to static IP for Affiliate Libraries?

This is a rather pressing question for us. Our ISP will be upgrading their wireless broadband equipment to LTE. LTE does not support (we have been told this by a couple of ISPs) Static IP - whether this is true or not, that service will be discontinued for us once the upgrade happens.

  1. Does FamilySearch have any alternative means for an AL to connect so that patrons may access restricted content?
  2. Will virtual static IPs work as well? I have researched using a VPN service that also provides a site with a static IP, which should work the same, but I'd like to know first if there are any issues for FS if we go that route.

Has anyone tried the second option? There is a cost involved and as a non-profit, I'd like some certainty that this will work.

Thanks

FamilySearch doesn't currently have any alternatives to static public IP for affiliates. Your LTE carriers are informing you correctly that wireless carriers don't support stable public IP addresses. I haven't heard of anyone trying the VPN service option, and I'm not certain whether it would work or not.
