    If your father was born in the United States you can find information about how to order his birth certificate from the familysearch wiki page United States Birth Records https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/United_States_Birth_Records . You will need to know what state he was born in. Click on that state for more information.

    Well, we know which planet to look on, but a century and continent to start with might be nice....

    Hi Julia,

    My Dad's info is very sketchy so I just keep plugging away. Thanks for the kind reply.

    How sketchy exactly? Do you need a search angel?

    Michael

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

    Basically ...

    We NEED "All" the 'sketchy' information/detail, that you can provide, about the "Birth" of you Father, to be better able to help/assist you.

    eg.

    If known, WHAT,

    ▬ Continent;

    ▬ Country;

    ▬ State/Providence/Region;

    ▬ Shire/County/Municipality;

    ▬ Village/Town/Commune;

    ▬ About "Year" - even, a "Range" of "Years"

    ▬ Maybe the "Names" of "Parents"

    ▬ Any possibility of "Emigration"/"Immigration"/"Naturalisation"

    ▬ Any Census records

    ▬ Any Baptism records

    ▬ Is there an existing "Death Registration" record

    We cannot begin, to help/assist, with such.

    'FamilySearch', contains MANY "Records", from ALL around the World.

    And, 'FamilySearch', is used by MANY Users/Patrons, from the MANY, Countries; and, Unions, from ALL around the World.

    There are many Participants, from around the World, in this Forum, that are willing to help/assist.

    [ Where, they can ... ]

    Provide, what you have, no matter how 'Sketchy', to let them, TRY to help/assist you.

    Just my thoughts.

    Brett

    Perhaps you could look at the FamilySearch Group, Adoption and Unknown Family Research

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/group/1-adoption-and-unknown-family-research

    This has a section Adoption and Unknown Family Research Group Resource Links

    If you wanted to ask a question, you would need to join the group first.
