Find by Name of ID#

When you search for a person, a new green box comes up with 2 options. I would like to see the program changed to have the curser go directly to the ID box when you select the ID. It previously did it that way before the GREEN box was instituted. I do hundreds of these searches and it saves a lot of keystrokes and you can enter the ID# without looking at the screen.

Often I have the PID already loaded into the clipboard, so I click and paste.

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

    Great suggested enhancement ...

When using the "Find" feature/facility/function, for an individual/person, in "Family Tree", of 'FamilySearch' ...

'Yes', it certainly would be more productive, if the "Cursor", would AUTOMATICALLY, appear in the respective FIRST "Field" in BOTH, (1) "Find by Name"; and, (2) "Find by ID" (ie. In fact, the ONLY "Field", in this case).

    ie.

    Find by Name

    [ ie. the "Default" ... ]

    https://www.familysearch.org/search/tree/name

    First Names

    image.png

    Find by ID

    https://www.familysearch.org/search/tree/id

    Ancestor ID

    image.png

    Just my thoughts.

    Again ...

    Great Suggested enhancement.

I know, that this certainly does not help/assist; but, I hope, that this may provide additional support, to your suggested enhancement.

    ps: As an aside ...

Just in case you were not aware ...

When wanting, to go straight to, a specific KNOWN 'FamilySearch Person Identifier" (PID), in the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch', one DOES NOT even have to use, the "Find" feature/facility/function.

One can simply use the URL:

    https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/[PID]

Where, the [PID], is the specific KNOWN 'FamilySearch Person Identifier" (PID).

    That works just fine.

And, is very quick and easy.

I use it all the time.

I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.

Or, in Brett's second screenshot, aim the cursor a little bit to the left of Find: the Recents menu has a box at the top, with the focus already in it, where you can paste your ID, hit return/enter, and get taken directly to the profile. In Windows, it's one click and three keystrokes (ctrl, v, enter).
