Why has Indexing been reduced in priority?
It used to be on the main menu of https://www.familysearch.org/en/
Now it has been relegated to a subset under Get Involved.

Just in passing ...
That is a very good question ...
And, one that many of us, have been asking ...
In doing so, we are 'brushed aside' ...
[ Where, 'Post'; and/or, 'Comments', have been either, "Edited"; or, "Deleted", by the "Moderators" ... ]
As I have already stated, previously, in other posts ...
"Indexing", should NOT, be CONFALTED, with OTHER "Volunteer" Activities.
"Indexing", should ALWAYS be, separate; and, distinct, from OTHER "Volunteer" Activities.
Unfortunately ...
Those with in the 'driving seat', SUPPOSEDLY, know better ...
I have a sneaking suspicion, that the whole matter; and, "Catch Phrase" of "Get Involved", may stem from, the pending "Release", for "Indexing Review", of the "1950, Census of the United States of America".
Hence, "Get Involved" ...
That particular Census is DIFFERENT; as, it has been "Indexed", by "Computer Reading" Technology; but, will be "Reviewed:, by us "Humans", prior to actual Release, to the General Public.
Unfortunately, the MAJORITY, of those in the 'driving seat', are from the "United States of America" ...
And, the rest of the World, outside of "North America", just have to follow along, regardless ...
[ There NEEDS to be, a more equitable, sharing; &, amount, from the rest of the World, in the 'driving seat' ... ]
Hopefully ...
This is just, a 'passing phase' (or, 'fad'); and, after all the 'hype', of the "1950, Census of the United States of America", has 'died down', we can RETURN to NORMAL - ie. Where, "Indexing is 'standalone' ...
Of course, the "Get Involved", CAN still remain, for OTHER "Volunteer" Activities; but, separate to "Indexing".
But ...

IF, you specifically want to know, more about, "Get Involved", there is a specific 'Category', in this Forum ...

But, that said, I am sure, it is most likely 'on the cards' ...

Rather than relegated, I would say indexing has been promoted to a new category of activity, where it has been joined by the Review Names program to train the indexing AI. This is growth, and progress. Yay!
