Can someone decipher this for me? What are the initials for Rev. Ryan? I continually have trouble with these 2 initials! The Handwriting Examples don't seem to help. Thanks!!

Hi, I had posted this and then tried to edit it and it went weird and then disappeared!!

I think there was a response but that disappeared also! Could people please respond again?

The batch number may not be showing correctly. It should be M3KF-****

Thanks, Patrick

The initials could be T J. You might check the rest of the image to see a pattern in the handwriting.

    Thanks @samshicat

This batch is from Australia, Albany—Inward Passenger Lists, so may be only visible to Australians. I've tried twice to paste in the Batch Code, but it seems to have **** in it on my screen, for some reason.

I'm on the "R" page of the Passenger List, so all of the surnames begin with a capital R, so I can't compare much. The only other examples of the two initials that I'm having trouble with are also all initials, and all look the same as the ones I'm trying to decipher!! Quite a dilemma!😀

    Hi, @PatrickCox6

It could be T J, but more examples of its use would help confirm that. Have you checked the previous reference images? Please go to Batch> About Batch and post the Image Name you see there. It should look like the following. Maybe it's restricted for Indexing but not for viewing.

Thanks @John Empoliti here's a screenshot of the a reference page beside the page I'm working on.

    image.png

The ship's name on the right is Innaminka, and the capital "I" looks like the second initial on the left hand page. And/But the first initial on the left looks like an "I" in the Handwriting Examples dropdown box. However, I think the initials of the Rev Ryan seem to be T I.

I am having trouble getting the batch number - it is M3KF-****, but shouldn't it have a number at the end? The Batch Code that I put in my previous posts here seem to come out with 4 asterisks at the end. Not sure what's going on.

Here is the "About Batch" screenshot:

    Hope this makes some sense!!

OK. I was able to bring up your batch image and the ones around it. I found an excellent exemplar. Here on a reference image, -1, midway down the page on the left are two names showing I and J above one another. I believe that your mystery letter is indeed an I. The Jno (second person's given name) is an abbreviation for John. So that letter above, which looks like your problem letter, is indeed an I.

Thanks John!! And the other troublesome initial? Is it a "T"? Or a "Y"? Or something else?

    I think that's a T.

@PatrickCox6 Hi got your email earlier but couldn't get to FS til tonight (UT time) I agree with John and Sam - Rev Ryan initials are T I as in Tom Isaac -- thanks for the screen shots - that helped a lot 😎
