Add diacritics (accents) to Name Review

When I found an error in a Brazilian record, I tried to input the correct name, but I could not find how to add accents/diacritic marks. I called the help desk and the missionary could not figure out how to add them either and asked me to contribute this idea.

Please make it easy for me (or any patron) to add accents while editing. We cannot get some names right without them.

Workaround: use your OS's language/keyboard settings to add the correct characters.

One method that works in most environments is to find the character in a document somewhere (such as on Wikipedia) and then copy-and-paste.

Are you referring to the new Get Involved Name Review process? Are you working on a mobile device or a computer? What brand of device are you using?

If you are working on a device with Apple's iOS, just hold down the letter until the list of diacritics pops up and choose the proper one:

Googling the topic, it looks like the same technique has been copied on phones that can run the Google Play version of the app.

That worked on my android, also. Pretty nifty!

Sorry to get back to you so late. I did not get notified in FamilySearch that I had a notification. And I only got into communities looking for something else.

    To answer your questions:

Yes, I was reviewing names in the new indexing feature, in Portuguese.

I am using a Lenovo laptop computer with windows.

My complaint is that the old indexing system had diacritic marks built in and that is what I was suggesting for the new process as well.

Sorry, my response was intended for someone else in this conversation.
