Ancestor not uploaded
When trying to add an ancestor, they were not accepted as a new record, possibly because there was another person with similar but not identical details (same birth details, same father but different mother). How is this resolved?
Moreover this ancestor's spouse could not be added, maybe for a related reason.

Question: Exactly, WHAT "Process", were you using to "Create" this particular "Ancestor"?
eg.
▬ Through, the "Upload", of a GEDCOM File, into the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch'?; or,
▬ Through, the "SourceLinker", while adding a "Source" to another Ancestor?; or,
▬ Simply, adding a NEW individual/person?
Please advise/clarify.
'Thank You', in advance.

It sounds like you're using the compare-and-add process subsequent to uploading a GEDCOM.
As you've discovered, the process is flawed. Badly. So badly, in fact, that anyone who has ever encountered the results would greatly prefer that you not use it. Add people "manually", using your file as a reference, but carefully checking what's already in the Tree before making any changes.

I'm new to this business so am feeling my way. But regarding Brett's query, I believe I'm just trying to add a new individual. It may well be that a clash has arisen because the details already in the system are incorrect but it results in a block of my information.
Julia (you have a famous surname!), I am adding individuals manually, or at least trying to! I'll have to find out about viewing the tree.
Thank you, both.

@RogerJohnson25, Family Tree doesn't block information from being added, but perhaps you haven't marked all of the required checkboxes (sex and deceased/living), and therefore aren't getting the "save" button enabled?
Here's a Help Center article on adding a spouse: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-add-a-spouse-or-partner-in-family-tree. Adding a child or parent works exactly the same way.
If that doesn't help, we'll need more details to figure out where it is that you're getting stuck. Perhaps you could try to get a screenshot of the step where you're interpreting the response as "being blocked"?
(The Famous Relative is one of the two main reasons for this hobby of mine. [The other one is my child.] Albert and my father-in-law were first cousins, although they were a full generation apart in age.)

Thanks, Julia. For whatever reason the imagined problem no longer exists so all well. Thanks again, Roger
