Error message at bottom of every page

At the bottom of almost every page where I review names I get a message saying Error on Page and that I should try again in a few minutes. I click Refresh each time and get another document to review, but I have no idea whether any of my reviews on that page have actually been submitted. Like so many others, I feel like I might well be completely wasting my time. I have no way to know.

Are you referring to the 'transcription error' on the bottom right corner? If so that is not an error. It is a button to take you to where you can tell what was wrong with the name you are reviewing like when it is not a name.

@Frances Bunce Dielmann , do you have an example of the error that you are seeing? Are you seeing this in one of the mobile apps or on the Names Review web page? Shortly after the Names Review activity was made available, there were some image loading issues. But, those have been resolved.

Thanks, annewandering. No, I was not referring to the "transcription error" (though I have been using that a lot).

Each time I have reviewed all the names on a page that the program offered me - the highlighted boxes have reached the bottom of the page of the document - an actual message shows up on the screen stating that there was an error on the page and that I should wait a few minutes and try again. There is also a "Refresh" button. When I click Refresh it moves to a new page/document and gives me some more names to review. As many people have stated, the whole thing is very glitchy right now and also urgently needs more precise instructions.

Thank you for your feedback, @Frances Bunce Dielmann . The Names Review is a new activity that is only a few weeks old. Extensive testing has previously been completed, but as expected, there will be bugs and improvements that will need to be made. We are also working on an FAQ knowledge article (KA) available in the FamilySearch Help Center. We appreciate your patience.

I seem to get this at the bottom of every page

Should I just give up and stop trying to review names?

This is on the web page, not a mobile app.

I got one of those a bit ago. It was different than the transcription error. I did not click refresh but went to the start page again. Didn't see the error again.

Thank you, @Frances Bunce Dielmann, for the screenshots; that is helpful. I am not currently getting any error messages when doing the Names Review. You might try one or more of the following troubleshooting ideas below:

    • Try a different state in the Names Review activity to see if you are getting the same error message
    • Clear web browser cookies: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-delete-all-of-the-cookies-and-temporary-files-stored-by-my-internet-browser
    • Make sure you are using the current version of the web browser
    • Press F5 on your computer keyboard, or click the refresh icon near the URL (website address) to refresh the page
    • Try a different web browser: Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox seem to work best with FamilySearch tools, in my experience
    • Sign out and sign back into FamilySearch.org again
    • Reboot your computer

In my experience, clearing computer cache and web browser cookies resolve a lot of issues. I hope one of these ideas help!

Thank you, ctr sweetie. I will try clearing cache and cookies. All the rest I have already done. I have had the problem over at least 2 days, at least 2 states, using Chrome, computer has been shut down and restarted at least twice during that time, and I have been signed out and back into Family Search.
