Printing family groups
Over night the printing of family group sheets changed why? Yesterday I could print a family of two parents and four children on one page and I like that. But today it comes on two pages with other parents and lots of empty spaces and eats up extra paper and is harder to read. If family search made this change I would like them to know I don't think it is a better decision. it costs more in ink and paper, takes up more room and is harder to read. Please let me know if this is where I should list this question. Thanks for any help you can give me in this matter. Dorothy Dailey

Then, it was BEFORE then ...
As, I have some "Very" OLD ones, that I printed, from 'FamilySearch, with Four (x4) Children on the FIRST Page.
Mind you, I have not needed, nor bothered, to do so for a very long time ...
I have NO idea; when, the "Change" occurred; but, I know, that there HAS been a "Change"; and, it did occur ...
There has been OTHER "Adjustments", over time; but, such, have been very minor; and, hardly noticeable.

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Just in passing ...
I just had a quick 'look' ...
'Yes', you are CORRECT ...
Another, NOT so good, "Change" ...
More like, ANOTHER "Dis-Improvement" ...
I hope, that 'FamilySearch', "Reverts" BACK, to the FORMER "Version" ...
But ...
That Said ...
Unfortunately ...
They will most likely NOT ...
[ Regardless, of what the Users/Patrons, WANT; DESIRE; and, NEED ... ]
But we can but live in hope ...
Just my thoughts.

I haven't printed a family group sheet for years. Between my desktop program and Family Tree there simply hasn't been any need. Taking a look, I see that Page One has room for parents and two children, subsequent pages have five children each. The font is a nice size and easy to read.
Is the change that you don't like the "Other Parents and Other Spouses" section under each child? It that new? This allows all the information in Family Tree to be printed so that it will not be overlooked or ignored. If that section wasn't there before, it should have been. That is valuable information.
Looking at the right hand side, it looks like there really isn't much room to squeeze in another child. Did they enlarge the font? Did they change to including all the ordinances for everyone? I know the really old printed forms never included confirmation or initiatory information. Including all the ordinances would be a very nice addition if it wasn't there before.
Can you post an image of how a sheet like this would have printed a week ago?
Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing, here is what I see for a family group sheet when it is printed out:

I have sheets printed from September 2020 that look identical to the ones you have shown in this thread. I don't see anything that has changed in the printing of Family Group Records from FamilySearch.
Your Family Group Record looks like it was printed from AncestralQuest or possibly an old PAF program.

It's 'Brett'.
Just in passing ...
As far as I can recall ...
A while back (ie. Previously) ...
[ Possibly, PRIOR, to September 2020 ... ]
The FIRST Page, of "Family Group" Sheets, that WERE "Printed", from the "Family Tree" Part of 'FamilySearch', DID have PROVISION, for Four (x4) Children.
[ ie. NOT just Two (x2); as, is the case now ... ]
So ...
That Said ...
In relation to this post, by 'Dorothy', things HAVE "Changed".
'Yes'; as, 'Gordon' indicates ...
The "Other Information" Section, for ALL individuals/persons, HAS now been EXPANDED, in SIZE, on the CURRENT, print.
The Problem/Issue, is that ACTUAL "Size", of the "Expanded", "Other Information" Section, NOW forces, the provision, for TWO (x2) Children, from the FIRST Page.
In many cases, the "Other Information" Section DOES NOT need to be so BIG (ie. "Expanded"); especially, when such, is "Blank"/"Empty".
I agree, that the EXPANSION, in SIZE, of the "Other Information" Section, is an IMPROVEMENT - when; and, ONLY when, there IS "Detail", in that particular section.
Whereas ...
IF, there is NO "Detail", in the "Other Information" Section; THEN, that particular section, SHOULD be kept, to a bear MINIMUM, of say just x1 Line; as, there is NO need, to EXPAND such - as was the case PREVIOUSLY.
BECAUSE ...
IF, "Detail", is added LATER, that appears in the "Other Information" Section; THEN, a NEW "Family Group" Sheet, CAN quite easily, be printed, if desired.
And ...
Before, it is brought up ...
There WAS "Ample" room, on the 'former' printed "Family Group" Sheets, to make "Notes"; and, "Add" Details, that could later, be ADDED, to the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch'; and, a NEW "Family Group" Sheet, could be printed, if desired.
As such ...
'Dorothy' is CORRECT ...
The "Family Group" Sheets, that are CURRENTLY "Printed", from the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch', HAVE "Changed".
There is, somewhat, of an IMPROVEMENT with regard to the "Other Information" Section, for individuals/persons.
But ...
That Said ...
That improvement, is OVERSHADOWED, by the including, of the UNNECESSARY printing, of the EXPANDED "Other Information" Section; where, that section is "Empty"/"Blank", for individuals/persons.
Just my thoughts.
Take it or leave it ...

The Family Group Sheets that I have printed from 2016 and 2017 look identical to the ones that I can print today. In 2016 and 2017 there were 2 children on the 1st page with parents and 5 children on subsequent pages.

Thanks for the information everyone. I think that answers my question but doesn’t mean I think it is better now. I hate to see the wasted ink and paper and like everything concise. It is to bad we don’t have a choice.

I tried to print my copy showing what I had but I don’t see that it came through, and I made some corrections on it that make it look like garbage. I’ll just have to adjust to the times.
