Indexing created wrong records
DGS- 107634135, image 31.
These are South Africa, Johannesburg cemetery records. The burial record is recorded on 2 pages.
For this image, the indexer created another record for each line on the 2nd page, recording the death date, and burial/death place. There is no name on these records.
These need to be deleted.
Thanks

@starkeypd Thanks. I see what you mean about the indexing errors. Unfortunately, after an indexing project has been closed, they do not re-open it to fix errors created by the indexers that were not caught during the review of the batches. We are told that developers are looking into more options for users to fix things in the future. For now, when the error was made by indexers (and not by computers as is the case with some of the inaccurate place names), we have to do the best we can with what is there.
Indexes are flawed by their very nature. Our volunteer indexers make mistakes. Fortunately, this index does serve its purpose in helping you find your ancestors. From there, you have access to the images to find the exact information that was recorded on the original documents. You can still use these records as sources for your ancestors and make note of the indexing errors when you attach them to records in Family Tree. Or create a source using the image URL rather than the index page so that the indexing errors are less of an issue for other users.
Thank you for your diligence in checking the records and letting us know about errors.

@starkeypd Could you double-check that DGS number? I'm not finding it in the catalog in order to duplicate the problem. Thanks! Or just grab the URL of the image or of the record details page and give that to us.

Sorry for the confusion.
I don't understand, when you search for the DGS number shown on the screen in the catalog nothing is found but it is what shows up on the screen when you look at the image?

Some film or image group numbers are simply missing from the catalog. You can still use them by manually typing up the URL: https://www.familysearch.org/search/film/107634135. (Add leading zeros if needed to make nine digits.)
