Enhance Alternate Name Add/Edit (Likely Easy To Do)
Upgrade the Alternate Name Add & Edit screens in the Other Information section on the Details page to the same functionality as the Edit Name screen in the Vitals section. Specifically, add the Sources/Tag feature.
This would greatly enhance adding and editing Alternate Names, and will likely be easy to program because the logic is already there in the Edit Name screen.

Unfortunately this would not be easy to do at all: it would require a complete revamp of FamilySearch's source-tagging structure.
Currently, only the conclusions under Vitals can be tagged to sources, because those conclusions are all singular: a profile can only have one name, one birth, one christening, etc. in that box. (Everything else has to go under Other.) This means that to tag those conclusions, you need only a limited set of checkboxes on each source: Name, Sex, Birth, Christening, Death, Burial.
That simple drop-down of six checkboxes cannot extend to conclusions under Other, because there are 24 different categories -- and all of them can have multiple entries. FamilySearch would have to come up with some arrangement that could handle fourteen alternate names and twenty-three different residences. Along the way, they'd have to change the logic behind their source attachment process, because the sources "end" would need to be "aware of" the conclusions "end". Currently, you get the same checkboxes regardless of whether you've entered a christening or burial or not. (Yes, you can currently tag a source to a nonexistent conclusion.)
I believe that a complete revision of FamilySearch Family Tree's source tagging setup is well past due, but the very fact that they haven't changed it at all in ten years of Family Tree's existence shows how non-minor a task it is.
