    On the 'World Events' section for an Englishman who lived during the 1914-18 era, you've completely ignored the fact that this was the period of World War I. Sorry you think it was irrelevant --- but most historians think otherwise, as did my grandfather --- who served throughout the battles. I noticed your error while checking his record: https://ancestors.familysearch.org/en/GQN6-G5B/alfred-walker-1883-1966?cid=tree-ancestors-r9+Person_Header_copy

    Thank you.

    The Discovery pages are a work-in-progress - not a 'finished work' - I would expect improvements over time. By the way - if you click on World Events> View All: 1915 Zepplin Raid(s) is listed (a bit of World War I history that I don't recall). You may also be interested to know that you can add any Custom Event you would like to appear in the timeline: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/timeline/GQN6-G5B

    I took the liberty of adding a Word War I Event - to show it as an example. It is important to note that the Discovery Page will not reflect this newly added event in the Timeline for a month or so (there is a periodic update for Discovery Pages - not instantaneous).

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

    You are not alone ...

    The "World Events", in BOTH,

    (1) the 'Time-Line', of an individual/person, in the "Family Tree" Part, of Familysearch';

    AND, ...

    (2) the "Discovery Pages", for an individual/person in the more RECENT "Ancestors.FamilySearch" [ .org ] Part, of 'FamilySearch',

    is BOTH, "Controversial"; and, "Divisive' ...

    Although, originally well intentioned, meant to be, addition interesting facts, about "World Events", during an Ancestor's life time, the perception of ANY "World Event", is in the 'eye of the beholder' ...

    In other words, a (ie. the SAME) "World Event", may well, be quite acceptable/appreciated by one particular User/Patron; but, may be totally, unacceptable/unappreciated, by another User/Patron.

    Even people, in the same "Country"; and, in the same "Culture", CANNOT always agree ...

    That is just 'human nature' ...

    EVEREYONE has their own perception; as, to what, is; or, is not, an acceptable/appreciated "World Event".

    And, the OTHER problem/issue, that exists is ...

    What should; and, what should NOT, be included, in "List", that appears for "World Events".

    That can be vert subjective; and, who (in 'FamilySearch', in this case) gets to make the "Decision".

    Personally, due to the 'sensitivities' (and, 'perceptions'), of BOTH,

    (1) ALL the VARIOUS Users/Patrons, of the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch', from ALL around the World;

    AND, ...

    (2) EVERYONE, in the World, that can access, the "Discovery Pages", for an individual/person, in the more RECENT "Ancestors.FamilySearch" [ .org ] Part, of 'FamilySearch' ...

    There is an EASY fix ...

    I would humbly suggest, that 'FamilySearch' would be, 'better off', simply, "Removing"; and, dispensing with, the "World Events", altogether from BOTH,

    (1) the 'Time-Line', of an individual/person, in the "Family Tree" Part, of Familysearch';

    AND, ...

    (2) the "Discovery Pages", for an individual/person in the more RECENT "Ancestors.FamilySearch" [ .org ] Part, of 'FamilySearch'.

    Doing so, would STOP all the, "Controversy"; and, "Divisiveness", regarding "World Events" ...

    Just my thoughts.

    Brett
