Having the batch to look at will give us a better chance of giving useful info. However, I'll go ahead and post some info that I found and hopefully this will answer your question.

I have been working on US, Massachusetts—Boston Tax Records, 1822–1918 [Part N]

The field instructions for given name (purple question mark) state:

*Index all names except those listed in the "Owner" or "Remarks" columns, or names of companies or trusts. Often, names of owners appear on the right side of the image; these names should not be indexed.

    The project instructions state:

    • Index all names except those listed in the "Owner" or "Remarks" columns, or names of companies or trusts. Often, names of owners appear on the right side of the image; these names should not be indexed.
    • When indexing real estate registers which had a column for owners and no other names, index the names of owners in this column. Do not mark these images as "No, No Extractable Data." This is an exception to the previous rule to not index the names of owners.

If you find executors of estate on a Tax book and they are listed in "owner" or "remarks (right hand side of the page), then no you do not need to index them.

However, you WILL need to INDEX Owners on Real Estate Registers (The list will be titled Real Estate) which are located on the right side of the page. For the Tax Book list of names, you just need to index the names under "NAMES" column and no other names that may be located on the right side of the page under "Owner" or "Remarks".

Based off these instructions, I'd say for sure to index these names as well, since they are located on the same line/part with the names located on the left side of the page. They aren't located on the right side of the page under "owner" or "Remarks".

    • Index all names except those listed in the "Owner" or "Remarks" columns, or names of companies or trusts. Often, names of owners appear on the right side of the image; these names should not be indexed.

Please give us a Shared Batch code so we can look at your batch. The Shared batch code can be found after the project name in this format: [Mxxx-xxx]
