Have you looked at probate or land records? At that early date, you won't find vital (birth/death) records, but you might find a probate record, with a child inheriting from or administrating the estate of a parent.

I found such a record at the historical society for his death, but nothing with him and a parent. Found his marriage document and his death certificate, but no parent name is listed on either. Found a copy of a family bible in the historical society, but it starts with David, no parents listed. He lived his whole life as a servant in the house of two sisters, although his children had a prosperous life.

Religion? Depending on the church, you might find a baptism or other church record.
