Review computer reading
Hello!
Thank you for the marvelous RootsTech! I just tried "Review Names" in "Get Involved," and that's so exciting!
I worked with Brother Jones in the computer reading training projects he had, and have some suggestions:
- The reviewer needs to be able to see more pages of the document for handwriting comparisons
- The first document I was given started by asking clarification on names from the incomplete record at the top of the left page--to make an accurate review, that previous page with the beginning of the record needs to be available to the reviewer
- Project instructions should be made available to the reviewer; for example, the name "muños" is in the first record of Image 322, Film # 004000199. The handwriting compared with other words on the page with a terminal "s" clearly shows that the name has been written "muños," but the computer has spelled it "muñoz." Should this be corrected, or have instructions been given to choose the more common "muñoz"? or is accuracy unimportant in indexing?
Thank you!
