How Accurate are the search records?
Hi Family Search, first of all, i have to say I really appreciate this website. I was able to find amazing things about myself and my family ancestry. Most recently, when adding one bloodline to my family, it hit another genealogy that traced back to the roman empire, with “relatives” from 3AC. This amazed my but at the same time left me wondering how accurate are those bloodlines? I understand that after 60+ generations there is no direct ancestry and that the records came from historical analysis, but is this really possible?
Thanks!
Daniel

I would have serious doubts about lines prior to like 1400 if they don't explicitly cite a verifiable source.
but in the end that is true of just about anything in the database - its only as good as the sources.
never assume ANY genealogy is accurate - always check the sources cited (f there are any). and if there are none - then its not much more than someone's guess as the best - and often blatantly misleading and sometimes false information.

Thank you Dennis! Some sources I was able to confirm up to 1500s, since my family came from Europe, and more specific this branch was from Madeira Island that has serious studies on the island genealogy and good readable sources from madeira and Portugal. After that, I tought it was very interesting but strange.
Thanks for your time and explanation!
