Hopefully this will help. Please ask for specific issues if you need more help!

When you review a name, you make sure that the computer indexed it correctly.
Steps (website)
- Click the tab titled Get Involved.
- Click My Opportunities.
- Scroll to the section titled Review Names, and click Get Started.
- Select a country.
- Select a document language. The menu will be disabled if only one language is available.
- Select a state or province. The menu will be disabled if the option does not exist.
- Enter a last name.
- This step is optional. When you enter a last name, FamilySearch looks for computer-indexed records where that name appears. The records will almost certainly contain other names as well, which you will be invited to review.
- Click Search.
- Compare the handwritten name in the image with the name that has been indexed.
- Click Match if the name in the box matches the handwritten name in the image. The two names should be spelled exactly the same.
- If you can clearly see that the name in the box does not match the name in the image, click Edit, and make the correction.
- If you cannot read the name in the image, click Unsure, and move on.

One thing I have found that I will add is to click on the button for transcription errors if there are errors you cannot fix or know what to do with. It will give you a choice of options on what to report along with a comment area. When you go back to the error you can delete the mistake in the indexed box field and then submit it as blank. We may well get more instructions as we go along but I have found this to be useful.

There is a separate place for Get Involved queries on Community now. Will Indexing be separated from Get Involved activities?

Click on FamilySearch Help, then click on the Get Involved Box. You will be able to find instructions there on how to do these tasks. Not really too cool not to have a link to the instructions on the project itself...

I want to let you know how much I enjoy Review Names. This allows me to serve when I only have a few minutes. I have a few questions about this project. Do we type exactly what is written or do we expand abbreviated names? When the name is just initials, do we type periods after the initials? Are place names submitted as a transcription error? I would like to mention that the blue box with the thick white lines make it difficult to read names. Thank you for creating new ways for us to be of service! I am excited to share My Opportunities with all those I help at the Family History Center. 😊

The computer (AI) has expanded abbreviations. We are told to leave them as they are expanded. The periods do not matter since the computer ignores them unless that has changed for this project. I am not sure about the places but I accept people names in a place but not anything that is not a person's name. If not a person's name I mark it as not a name in the transcription error page.
Two things I have seen that help when the box covers part of the name. One is to minimize the page. That may move the box lines off the name. Another is to click on the box in the upper right corner of the document window and rotate the image. Sometimes that will move the box enough to enable us to read the word.
Hopefully this helps?
