In the 1900 census Mary Elizabeth Walker L69P-XN4, known as Eliza, was recorded as Elijah L63N-2N6 and noted as a son.

Mary Elizabeth is well researched and has 24 sources attached. Her birth year fluctuates in the records ranging between 1896 and 1904. Her death record lists her father as Benjamin Walker and her mother as Dora Bailey. The earliest record available is the 1900 Census. At that time, this family is living in Lees Mill, Washington, N.C. They have 4 children: Mary C. age 5, Elijah J- a son - age 3 ( birthdate is recorded in this census as July 1896), John age 2, and Henry age 2 months. Research indicates a clerical error in this census. Elizabeth, who went by "Eliza" was recorded as "Elijah" and her gender marked as male. No other record can be located for an Elijah Walker born to Benjamine and Dora. We know Elizabeth was the daughter of Benjamin and Dora. The next earliest record is her marriage in 1916 marked as 19 years old. (birth year 1897).

Benjamin and Dora married October 1894.

On the FamilySearch tree, it is a fairly simple process to merge 2 profiles for the same person. The tree does not permit a profile to be deleted once it has been edited by another user.

Because Elijah L63N-2N6 is listed as male and Mary Elizabeth L69P-XN4 is listed as female, first, the profile for Elijah must be changed to female. To merge 2 profiles, both must be of the same gender. Then, the merge process is straightforward, and all the sources will be kept on the surviving profile.
