    Hi @Vivian Beatrice Belliston

I would suggest you start with the FamilySearch Wiki for the region - https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Austrian_Poland_(Galicia),_Austro-Hungarian_Empire_Genealogy

The article contains links to some records on FamilySearch.

    Good luck!

What records are you looking for in Poland/Austria ? Any names of places related to your mother's birth ?

Poland/Austria meaning Galicia? That part of Europe got a lot of name changes so to research your family you'll need to be familiar with the changes. For the village where your ancestors lived, make a timeline of its names and their temporal extent. To compile it, use English Wikipedia and FamilySearch Places.

You should also know the old Polish joke. The region was also known in Polish as Golicja I Głodomeria, meaning "Nakedia and Hungrymeria".
