Disconnecting duplicates that have been added incorrectly
I have been linking my records from ancestry to family search. Unfortunately when doing this duplicates have occurred. So I went to the duplicates to merge with the original record that I attached, this created a whole host of problems meaning now I have the father and attached to four women with the same name. This has also occurred on the Mother's name also 4 fathers with the same name all with different codes attached please help. So the problem I think is when people have duplicates and those duplicates have children that match the original (correct) person. When you merge you then obviously attach the child because the child matches but in doing so you. The situation you describe is very common. In my experience it is even more common in families in England than anywhere else.
Many contributors to FamilySearch Family Tree (FSFT) have added tree fragments in isolation. However, FSFT is *all one tree*. So of course all the fragments belong somewhere, and attaching them where they belong often involves merging duplicates. Very often it also involves making a lot of changes, as anyone's family tree is not necessarily correct.
Taking a peek at GZQP-62Q Morris Evans, I see enough inconsistencies that I would not have attempted to import a GEDCOM. Your best bet may be to delete immediately all the profiles you have newly created, and assess the tree that you find here now.
