How do I get rid of a duplicate entry for myself?
When I signed up for FamilySearch I used my name "Allan MacDonald" and the system gave me the ID of xxx.
I did some searching and was surprised to see an entry that was my grandfather, but it had some limited information. I started adding family members and some photos of people that were ascendants and descendants for him including myself. When I added myself I thought to add my middle name, "Allan xxx MacDonald" and the system gave me a different ID of xxx; birthdates and place the same in both cases; did not make any link to my login ID.
The problem this creates is when I send messages to people I know are related, "the sender" in the message becomes the "login person" xxx that is not the ID for myself in the family tree. So when someone that is related to me in the tree containing my grandfather, tries to look at me in the tree the system reports me as "not related", this is because the reference is to a different (login) tree with only one person, myself in it.
I thought to delete the person that I initially logged in as, but the system warns me all of the information I had entered would or would also be deleted; I spent too much time to repeat all that work. Is there a way to have my login ID changed to the person (myself) within the family tree I added myself to containing my grandfather?
Thank you for any help in advance.
Sincerely, Allan

Question: Were the two (x2) ("Living") 'Versions' of yourself, "Created", from the SAME 'FamilySearch' Account?
IF, the two (x2) ("Living") 'Versions' of yourself, WERE, "Created", from the SAME 'FamilySearch' Account; THEN, they CAN be "Merged'/"Combined".
Whereas ...
IF, the two (x2) ("Living") 'Versions' of yourself, WERE, "Created", from the DIFFERENT 'FamilySearch' Accounts; THEN, they CANNOT be "Merged'/"Combined".
Please advise.

You can merge the two versions of yourself but only by using the Merge By ID function found in the right hand column under Tools. I'm pretty sure you will have to keep the version of you that was created first, however, when you merge you can move all the extra information in the copy of you into the older record. Any memories on the new version will move over automatically. You won't lose any of them.
- Copy the ID number on the new version of you.
- Go to your original version, the one with your login ID.
- Scroll down on the right until to see Tools.
- In that section, click on Merge By ID.
- Paste in the other ID number.
- Proceed with the merge.
