Can you help me locate my adoption record?
Hello at the Family Search Community,
I was born, on November 20, 1956, in Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey. My mother’s name was Martha ***. At that time, she was not married, and my real father’s name was Andrew ***.
I have a copy of my mother's and stepfather's New Jersey Marriage Record stating they were married in June of 1957. I was seven months old. at that time.
My younger half-brother was born on March 21st, 1958, in Paterson, also. That was one year and four months after I was born. If my mother was pregnant for the regular nine months, then, nine months before March of 1958 will be June of 1957.
By common sense, my mother and stepfather got married after she found out she was pregnant in June of 1957. They were married in Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey.
Since my mother's maiden name was ***, I do believe my last name, prior to when I was adopted, was ***, too.
Can you help me locate and get a copy of my adoption record?
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Just in passing ...
And, not that I can be of any particular help/assistance ...
That Said ...
As an aside ...
IF, you have not already; THEN, ...
You may wish to consider, "Joining" and becoming a member, of one or more of the specific 'Groups', in the "Groups" Section, of this Forum.
And, submitting a "Request", for help/assistance.
The members, of the various "Groups", are only too willing to help/assist, where that can.
Please be aware, that to post in a 'Group', you have to "Join" the 'Group'.
The particular 'Group', I would humbly suggest is:
HOME > GROUPS > ADOPTION AND UNKNOWN FAMILY RESEARCH
Adoption and Unknown Family Research
I hope, that this mat help/assist, somewhat.
Mod Note: One post has been edited to remove personally-identifying information.0
This did help bur also it didn't. There may be some of my other unknown relatives, among Paterson, New Jersey, with the same last name or related to my deceased mother who may be able to help.0
Your assistance, by providing access to join The Adoption and Unknown Family Group, was helpful. After I received your reply, I did join the group.
I am just glad, that what I provided something, that may be of some help/assistance.
That is what this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, was originally established for, some Years ago ...
Users/Patrons, HELPING / ASSISTING, Users/Patrons ...
And, has been operating, quite successfully, for all these many Years ...
I truly hope, that you are able to find, your adoption record.
ps: I consider myself, SO lucky and blessed, that I DID NOT have to try, searching for such ...
pps: That particular 'Group' was a very active one; and, I know that some User/Patrons, have had some success, through that 'Group'; as, that 'Group' has very dedicated (and, helpful), Leaders; and, members.
