Some people working in the family tree on the descendency chart would like to have a feature added whereby the program would allow them to save where they are working, and come back to it later. Is it possible to add this feature?

You wish to be able to go back where you were in the descendency chart? Have you tried to use the "Recents" button found next to Person, on the line below the FamilySearch logo on the top left? It will take you back where you were recently working just by clicking on the name.

When I'm working on a descendancy, I print out that report and make notes on it. Then whenever I leave FamilySearch and later come back to my project, I can pick up that printed report and continue - even if it years later.

If you are working from the same person in any of the pedigree views you can always use the recents list but there is a way for you to always go to that person by changing the root person in your tree, to do this please follow these instructions,

    1. When you are signed in to FamilySearch make sure you have the ID number of the person in your tree you wish to start with.
    2. In the top-right corner, click your name.
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Click the Account tab.
    5. Scroll to Family Tree Preferences and click Edit.
    6. To make someone else the Starting Person, click the circle next to the blank box and enter the Person ID.
    7. Click Save.

To make the change back to yourself just repeat the process although you don't need your ID that is always there in the Family Tree Preference you just have to click the circle next to your name. I find this invaluable when working in a different part of my tree as every time I sign into FamilySearch I get that particular family straight away.
