Ontario Tax Assessment Rolls, 1834-1899

I think this database needs to be looked at. The locations are all wrong. Perhaps the software is picking up the wrong locations. E.G. Lanark Village in Lanark County, Ontario is being picked up as Lanarkshire Scotland.

    Hi @Joan Cybolsky, the problem you describe appears to fall with the known problem that was described by @N Tychonievich (inaccurate place standardization) in her post from 11 February, which you can read here .

    We will forward the information that you have provided so that the engineers can take a look at the problem. Just for your interest, I have found over 3,000 instances of records being identified as being from Lanarkshire, Scotland. Upon examining a sample record, I find it to be from Lanark, Ontario, Canada, as you have indicated above.
