Boston Tax Records - executors
I'm reviewing Boston Tax Records. There are sometimes notes in tiny writing above a name indicating the person is the executor/executrix with the name of the person. Should that name also be indexed? I notice some people are including that name and others are not.
An example is on: The last name on the page is Mary Sullivan who is the executrix for Dennis Sullivan. Should Dennis be indexed or just Mary?

Here is a citation from the What to Remember About This Project section of the Instructions:
- Index all names except those listed in the "Owner" or "Remarks" columns, or names of companies or trusts. Often, names of owners appear on the right side of the image; these names should not be indexed.
So, I think you should index Dennis (with a Ctrl+B Surname) because we normally don't assume the surname of one person from another unless the Instructions say otherwise. Also, that's "ux" meaning Mary is "wife of" Dennis.
From the General Indexing Guidelines section:
Surnames
• Do not assume the surname of an individual based on the surname of someone else, such as a parent or a spouse, unless directed otherwise in the project instructions.
• Type the maiden name before the current or former surnames. A maiden name was often indicated by the words "née" or "born as." A maiden name may also have been written in parentheses.
