Why oh why are the place names and birth years now missing from searches?

I realize this might be a temporary problem.

Today, I looked up Herbert K. Walther in the 1940 census. He worked at the Granada Relocation Center in Colorado during World War II. I thought his name might be unusual, but unfortunately there are dozens of Herbert Walthers in the 1940 census. Now, with the place names removed from the results, I'll be forced to log in to Ancestry to try to figure him out.

Please make your programmers do genealogy so they'll understand how these changes affect people who use the service. At the very least, programmers should be forced to spend a day with active users to see how their ideas affect us.

I hope this is not a permanent change like the other changes we've all complained about which have made searching less useful. It's wonderful when changes improve things; it's horrible when they make things worse.

By the way, I did find the correct Herbert right away looking in Ancestry, and I'm now working on his tree in Family Search.

@Judy Crook_1 We'll get this to engineers and hope for a speedy fix.
